August 2008 – Toshiba BCD shows strong growth
Toshiba Business Communications Division (BCD) has revealed positive financial results for Q1’08, continuing to show growth in its core SME market.
The small and medium enterprise is continuing to recognise the benefits of investment in a reliable system that can grow with the business and adapt to working practices. Toshiba generated the largest rise in extensions sold in the 2-10 extension segment of the non-BT market in Q1 2008 compared to Q1 2007, with their share of sales in this market sector increasing from 2% to 6%.
This strong performance is in contrast to the trend within the total 2-10 extensions market, which has declined steadily since Q1 2008. In addition to growing sales in the 2-10 market segment, Toshiba has also strengthened its position in the 11-30 segment with volumes rising by more than 30% compared to Q1 2007. This results in an increase in Toshiba’s market share of 1.5% in the non-BT market.1
Duncan Clark, Analyst, MZA Limited said: “MZA research has shown that, although IP solutions specifically targeting the SME sector have gained momentum, the demand for hybrid solutions capable of supporting analogue, digital and IP extensions continues to be robust. Toshiba has played a key role in making this type of solution more accessible to smaller organisations with the launch of its Strata CIX40 solution last year; the solution can be configured as pure IP, hybrid IP or digital meaning SMEs have the option to reconfigure to suit their ongoing requirements.”
Toshiba’s focus on strong partner relationships continues to enable Toshiba BCD to successfully target its key market, in particular playing on its strength in vertical markets such as education, retail and healthcare. By working with its partners to provide tailored solutions, Toshiba’s range is proving increasingly popular for SMEs in these sectors.
Tim Webb, General Manager, Toshiba BCD said: “Our continued success in the UK is a testament not only to our reliable and scalable solutions, but also to our partners and our good working relationship with them. We look forward to another successful year working with our partners.”
Toshiba BCD’s CIX series has also had success in US for Q1’082, ranked number two for IP systems, with a 17 per cent market share.
